Membership

The active membership of SAM is open to natural persons, legal entities and partnerships that already have a license from FINMA under FinIA, are currently still active as wealth managers affiliated to a SO/SRO or are entered in an advisor register within the scope of application of FinSA.

It is therefore primarily aimed at wealth and portfolio managers, managers of collective assets, managers of private asset structures (namely trustees) and client advisors.

 

Individual membership of SAM is a commitment to excellence and highly professional performance. In doing so, you actively contribute to representing the association's values and strengthening the industry.

Partner members support the objectives of SAM. The majority of renowned banks and financial service providers in the Swiss financial center are among the SAM's growing number of partner members.

Active membership

Active membership of SAM

As an industry association, SAM represents more than half of the wealth and portolio management companies in Switzerland, bringing together the wealth and portfolio managers supervised by FINMA and the five supervisory authorities. It is also the largest association of CISA asset managers and, as a professional association, brings together more than 2000 individual members who work in portfolio and wealth management.

Active membership of SAM is open to natural and legal persons as well as partnerships that are already licensed by FINMA in accordance with FinIA, are currently still active as wealth and portfolio managers affiliated to an SRO/SO or are entered in an advisor register within the scope of FinSA.

 

Terms of affiliation

The admission as an active member of SAM requires activity as a wealth and portfolio manager, trustee, manager of collective assets (for collective investment schemes or pension funds), fund management company or securities firm.
As such, it must be supervised by FINMA directly or by one of the five approved supervisory organizations: AOOS, FINcontrol, OSFIN, OSIF, SO-FIT.

Client advisors who are entered in an advisor register are also admitted.

Exclusive advantages

In addition to a direct contact with the association of the Wealth Management Industry, active members of SAM benefit from broad support in everyday business matters and have access to exclusive SAM information.

In addition, you are entitled to the following services included in the annual fee:

  • Connection to the OFS ombudsman's office (mandatory within the scope of the FinIA and FinSA) 

  • Legal support, in particular in connection with implementation and documentation in accordance with FinSA and FinIA 

  • Access to all SAM events and publications 

  • Use of the SAM training platform with free offers and specialist courses at special conditions (individual registration required)

  • Access to the cross-border program (28 free country manuals) 

  • Special conditions for profession-specific solutions, such as IT solutions, professional indemnity insurance, etc. 

  • Fleet discount with certain car importers 

  • Free membership for employees of active SAM members

Fee

  • Membership fee: CHF 2,000 (excl. VAT)

  • If admission to the association takes place in the second half of the year, half of the annual fee is waived. 

  • The annual fee for active members of SAM is determined by the general assembly for the following year.

Requirements

Natural or legal persons who support the objectives of SAM, who are interested in the profession and the educational work of SAM and who wish to actively promote the industry and the Swiss financial center can become partner members.
